You can use a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 with gscan2pdf
Back to my Slackware and/or Linux page(s).
To whomever needs to know this, I was able to get gscan2pdf working
with a document-feeding Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 scanner, like the title says.
(I have access to another newer ScanSnap (sorry, don’t have the model number right here) and that one did not work right off the bat the way the S1500 did.)
I did need to add my user to both of these groups: scanner and lp. I’m not
sure if both were required.
I also installed unpaper, which is a "post-processing tool for scanned sheets
of paper". It corrects the inevitable crooked page, cleans dark edges, etc.
Really helps!
It’s certainly not as flawless as the software that came bundled with the hardware, but it’s free and it works so this scanner can keep having a long and productive life!
The ScanSnap is a great piece of hardware. My only issue is that Microslop and Fujitsu won’t work together to keep it working on the other family computers.
Actually, I have two issues, come to think of it. The second is that I can never remember if it’s called "ScanSnap" or "SnapScan". The answer is ScanSnap, I double-checked. :-)
