So I just finished an adventure documented in this neighboring card: systemd-resolved global DNS vs link DNS.
I was trying to use *.local domain names, but those are reserved for
mDNS and many computers and devices will not use your provided name server
to resolve them!
The correct answer is to use *.home.arpa as I describe in
Setting up the .home.arpa domain with OpenBSD’s unbound.
