Freedom versus inconvenience

TODO: LOL, this card filename is misspelled "verus". Fix it!

Big Tech shackles us with convenience. Free software is often less convenient, but in exchange, you gain independence.

Sometimes, I choose a path that is not merely less convenient; I actually do without. This is even harder. But when I do without, I’m even more free.

To be free means having choices and the most difficult but the most powerful choice is often to abstain entirely from something where there isn’t a good set of options.

Choosing open source software often comes with a loss of convenience. I sometimes even go a step further and forgo a program that doesn’t seem like it’s been built to last (applications built with Electron, for example). I am rarely surprised with the outcome of my choice five years later. And even more rarely a decade later.
