…​become "continuous" when you view them in the context of a stream of days:

the same three calendar days lined up in a row so that the same time period is now a solid block spanning the days. A single arrow shows the flow from one block to the next.

It’s one of those weird "obvious" things that hardly seems worth mentioning, but that can be useful for attaching other ideas.
