Dave's Cheese Notes: Fromager d’Affinois Excellence
Back to Dave’s Cheese Pages.
I think this is a really nice looking cheese with that stripe pattern. I tried to cut slices, but this cheese really doesn’t slice, bless it.
Verdict: delicious!
There, that’s my whole review. I just really enjoyed the heck out of this cheese. It was incredibly pleasant. There are no strong smells or tough rinds to contend with. Just soft, buttery goodness.
Fromager d’Affinois has a website and a page for this cheese:
The official description is:
This buttery French cheese sets a new standard of ‘Excellence’ for Fromager d’Affinois with the addition of extra cream. Silky and indulgent, the texture is heavenly, melting beautifully on the palate. Rich, luxurious, and creamy, it delivers the ultimate indulgence for cheese lovers seeking a soft, velvety experience.
Yup, I agree. I can’t really improve on that.
Fromager d’Affinois’s history (circa the 1980s) sounds like a nightmare for true French cheese afficionados:
Jean Claude Guilloteau, a visionary disruptor, sought to redefine the art of cheese-making. Drawing inspiration from his background in yogurt production…
(Emphasis mine.)
So, you know, maybe we’ll not concentrate on that part.
Let’s just enjoy the velvety goodness.
Ah, yes, like a huge dollop of butter, but without people staring at you for eating a huge dollop of butter.
Also, I got this wedge on super sale. Very cheap. I was quite happy with my purchase.
Until next time, stay buttery, cheese pals!
