2026 Update: When the 15.0 update finally game out, I said I was, "firmly back in the Slackware camp. It’s my favorite general-purpose Linux distro." Well, that was four and a half years ago (15.0 was released February 2022) and we’re back with a stale OS again! The release cycle is crap and I’m absolutely not running "-current", which would go against half the reasons I run Slackware in the first place!

For the last couple years, I’ve been experimenting with the BSDs. I’ve switched my servers entirely over to OpenBSD and have even been trial-running it as a desktop OS. It works fine, but I might end up with FreeBSD or NetBSD. I particularly like the NetBSD emphasis on a small, clean codebase and hobbyist use. And I particularly like that it has its own implementation of curses. I love a scrappy, rebellious underdog with a good heart!
