Quarterly introspective review
This is a journaling-reflection method. It could be a good alternate to the week-month-year distillation process I’m currently doing (2022).
It was recently suggested to me that I might consider a jounaling-quarterly review approach as described in The Twelve Week Year (sadly, the book itself sounds terrible):
The author suggests breaking your year into quarters, 4 lots of 12 weeks with the 13th week for review.
The first obviously cool part of this is how the math works out nice and tidy (no more trying to get four weeks to fit perfectly in a month - there are no months!). 4 * 13 weeks = 52 weeks. Neat!
But the best part may be the focus on a quarterly time scale which is:
-
Long enough to be a "big picture" view of time
-
Short enough to be possible to summarize and/or plan for
And best of all, you get an entire week "off" to perform the introspective part. That could be really nice.
